THE OLIVE TREE

FROM ROMANS CHAPTER 11

The olive tree represents believing Israel, rooted in Torah. The branches are the individual Hebrews who keep Torah (Yahweh's guidance, direction, and teaching).

Roma 11:16 (NIV) If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,

18 do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."

20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief {that Yahshua is Messiah}, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21 For if Yahweh did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of Yahweh: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

Roma 11:11 (NIV) Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!

NOT A NEW TREE

Notice in verse 17 that this is not a new tree. It is an already existing tree, where those not believing in the Messiah Yahshua have been cut off, and into which the believer from a gentile background can be grafted; so that, he may share in the nourishing sap from the already developed root system in Torah. So the believer from a gentile background has been grafted into a body obedient to Torah. Remember again, Yahshua said that until heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle shall change in the Law (Torah) Matt 5: 18.

GENTILE BELIEVERS ARE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL

Believers from a gentile (of the nations) background are grafted into an ongoing system. Although there is no Jew or Gentile among believers, but only people of Yahweh, the system has not changed. The people of Yahweh are all children of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel through faith. They submit themselves to Yahweh's commandments through obedience and keep their faith in Yahshua as their redeemer. Since we are all one in the body, we cannot say: "Those commandments were for the Jews and I'm not a Jew." Now grafted in, we sojourn (keep company) with those of Hebrew background who are believing branches on that tree. Those commandments have always been for believers in Yahweh, Hebrew or foreigner.

Numb 15:15 (KJV) One ordinance [shall be both] for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth [with you], an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye [are], so shall the stranger be before Yahweh.

16 One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

Isai 56:6 (ASV) Also the foreigners that join themselves to Yahweh, to minister unto him, and to love the name of Yahweh, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it, and holdeth fast my covenant;
7 even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
8 The Sovereign Yahweh, who gathereth the outcasts of Israel, saith, Yet will I gather [others] to him, besides his own that are gathered.
